About Australian English School
It is a private English college and has its own syllabus and materials. Australian English School was established by James Hogan after several years of travelling as a private tutor and discovering what students really want from an English Language School. Australian English School works in partnership with Adult English School Pty Ltd, Adult Language School, Z-Gen English School and TEFL International.

About Our Mission
To broaden the horizons of students in their understanding of spoken English, to help improve students' ability to communicate in casual situations and to help facilitate a smooth transition and an easy integration into Australian society.

About Our Slogan - Learn REAL English!
The problem that many students find after having completed their English training in many countries around the world is that the English they have been taught is textbook English or extremely grammatically correct English or old English, or even formal English, when no one actually speaks like that in real life.

In our courses we teach real life English!

The English you'll hear in the street, in the pub, in the office, on the train or bus, in shopping centres and other places in natural settings. The English that you should have been taught. We also teach this in a fun environment with teachers who have plenty of knowledge about where common and everyday expressions come from and can describe the history of idioms and other phrases if needed. We also point out that grammar came AFTER English, not before, so we encourage students to stop stressing about grammar rules and learn to say things as others say it. For a lot of students, this is a break through for them and they can suddenly communicate faster without worrying about whether what they're about to say is grammatically correct or not. After all, did native English speakers learn grammar rules when they were five years old?

In our private lessons, of course, we teach you what you want to learn, whether it is IELTS, TOEIC, TOEFL, OET, EAP or just grammar and pronunciation. But if you wish to have a conversation lesson, we'll teach you Real English!

About Our Philosophy
Australian English School is run as a not-for-profit organisation. Prices are set to cover rent, advertising, office expenses, insurance, teachers' pay and other sundries, utilitys and the like. If we do make a profit it is used to improve facilities for students or donated to charity. All staff volunteer some of their time to help improve the business.

About our Teachers and Staff
Our full time casual staff includes John O'Loughlin, who is our main private English tutor, and Business Course Teacher, Katrina Freno, who is our TESOL trainer and teaches the TESOL course at TEFL International, Christina Hogan who is the administrator and James Hogan, Managing Director, Principal and Teacher of Adult English School, Adult Language School and TEFL International Sydney. We also have a number of casual teachers who offer conversational lessons in cafes.

About the Symbol of Australian English School
The symbol of the school, the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby, is an endangered animal that lives in South Australia. With Kangaroos, Koalas, the Platypus and other animals being used as logos and mascots, we thought it was time that the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby got some attention too!
